ZANE McINTYRE

ZANE McINTYRE - Goalie - 27 - $.700MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2020-2021

LAST UPDATED 8/28/19
After departing the Boston system and landing in Vancouver, McIntyre looks more like AHL goalie depth than a real NHL option at this point in his career.
UPDATED 2/17/19

The Bruins 6th round selection in 2010, McIntyre’s prospect stock has fallen significantly in the past couple of seasons. After stealing the starting spot with the Providence Bruins from former top goalie prospect Malcolm Subban, the former North Dakota star began to establish himself as a potential future starter in the NHL. Alas, all goalies respond differently to playing in the NHL, and during an 8 game stint for the Bruins in 2016-2017, McIntyre was nothing short of awful, struggling to make routine saves while looking completely out of his element. McIntyre’s terrible play prompted the Bruins to select another goaltender, Dan Vladar, in the 3rd round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, and Vladar has since begun to steal starts from McIntyre in Providence. With McIntyre now being 26 years old and the Bruins adding intriguing goalie prospects Kyle Keyser and Jeremy Swayman to the mix, Zane has now been reduced to an afterthought in the Bruins system, leaving fans wondering what could have been had McIntyre impressed in his brief chance to break out in the NHL.
