ZACH PARISE - Left Winger - 35 - $7.53MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2025-2026
LAST UPDATED 8/20/19
While he can definitely still play when he hits the ice, actually staying healthy has been the biggest obstacle for Parise since signing his massive free agent contract. He has not played in a full 82-game season as a member of the Wild, and that unreliability when it comes to his health damages his overall value. That being said, when he does manage to hit the ice he's still a very strong playmaking winger. Parise has strong puck skills and a good offensive mind, and his smarts allow him to be in the right place and the right time with the puck. That intelligence carries over to Parise's defense, and he's able to use that high hockey IQ and sound positioning skills to be an impact penalty killer. While Parise's spent his entire career as an offensive player with a great shot, potentially his best attribute now is his ability to play the penalty kill despite being a top-6 offensive winger. He won't anchor a power play or be the offensive engine behind a team, but he can reliably post 60 points in 70 games (as 70 games would be considered a "healthy" season for him) and as long as he's ready for the playoffs he can have real value. Load management would be key for keeping a healthy Parise fresh, and as long as he's not on IR he's a legitimate top-6 winger.
