VICTOR BERGLUND - Defenseman - 19 - Drafted 2017 #195 Overall
LAST UPDATED 2/6/19
A smooth skating, two-way defenseman, the Bruins took a chance on Berglund in the 7th round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. A defenseman with a lot of pro experience in Sweden, especially for his age, Berglund projects as a future 7th defenseman as his ceiling. While his skating and passing ability give him a relatively high floor relative to typical 7th round selections, the worry with Berglund (as with a lot of other young Swedish defensemen) is how he’ll adjust to smaller American ice and a more physical game. Going forward, it will be interesting to see how much Berglund’s pro experience will benefit him when he gets to the AHL, and whether it will impact how quickly he rises through the organizational ranks, if he does at all.
