TREVOR LEWIS - Center - 32 - $2MM Cap Hit - 2020-2021
LAST UPDATED 6/22/19
Another veteran of the Kings' two cup victories, Trevor Lewis has been a constant in LA lineups nightly. Never an imposing offensive producer, Lewis lacks puck skills, elite speed, and a good enough shot to make himself an offensive threat at center. While he's obviously capable of ~25 points per season, he's undoubtedly a defense-first player. Defensively, Lewis is decent. He blocks shots, plays a physical game, and provides energy to a bottom-6. He's got the veteran playoff experience NHL teams crave, and he's smart enough and been through enough to be an asset in his own end. Isolated impact metrics paint him as a net negative on the penalty kill, but coaches continue to trust him there so your opinion of his penalty killing abilities will depend on if you value analytics or ice time more. He's not an exceptional faceoff taker, but he's got the north-south ability to stick as a good center regardless. He's 32, so father time will rear his ugly head for Lewis sooner rather than later, but at this point Trevor Lewis is a decent veteran 4th line center, and with expiring UFA status next year he'll be the perfect trade deadline addition for a younger team looking to gear up for a Stanley Cup run.
