TRENT FREDERIC - Center - 21 - Drafted 2016 #29 Overall
LAST UPDATED 2/13/19
The Bruins’ 1st round selection (29th overall) in 2016, Frederic is a big, offensive power forward with a playing style similar to former Bruins Milan Lucic and Nathan Horton. After the Bruins drafted him out of the USHL, Frederic played two seasons in the Big 10 with the University of Wisconsin, where he starred for the Badgers. Towards the end of the 2017-2018 season, Frederic debuted with the Providence Bruins, where he flashed his goal scoring potential and became a dominant physical presence on the ice. The 2018-2019 season hasn’t been as kind to Frederic’s offensive stats, though his physicality has remained. At 6’2 215 lbs., Frederic has the potential to be a physical third line checking forward, though his past season in Providence has many scouts seriously doubting whether Frederic’s offense will ever reach the level of a top-6 forward. If he can become at least a ~35 point scorer, he can be a valuable, team-first third line center for Boston.
