As the price for Carolina absorbing Bryan Bickell's bloated cap hit from Chicago, Teuvo Teravainen has exceeded all expectations to become a legitimate offensive superstar. He has elite hands and great hockey IQ, which he uses along with his above-average skating to create time and space for himself and his teammates to create offensive chances. Teravainen's game has a two-way flair to it, and isolated impact metrics are incredibly high on Teravainen's defensive performance. While his lack of penalty kill time makes his supposed defensive ability a bit confusing, Teravainen does have legitimate defensive upside and is smart enough to be a strong defensive winger. Teravainen has sustained a shooting percentage above 12% for the past two seasons, which have unsurprisingly been his best two seasons, and it remains to be seen whether or not this level of shooting performance is Teuvo's real ability rather than just an extended run of great puck luck. Given his fantastic contract, though, Teravainen is at the very least a good top-6 winger locked up long term.
