RYAN FITZGERALD - Left Winger - 24 - Drafted 2013 #120 Overall
LAST UPDATED 2/6/19
Boston’s 4th Round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Fitzgerald is a potential under-the-radar player in the Bruin’s system. Picked after a solid season in the EJHL, Fitzgerald attended Boston College for 4 seasons before making the jump to pro hockey in the 2017-2018, where he was a pleasant surprise for the Providence Bruins. A hard-nosed center who grinds in front of the net for his goals, Fitzgerald scored 21 times for the P-Bruin’s in 65 games while picking up 37 pts. Fitzgerald is a solid, gritty defensive player with a high motor, but his skating and passing abilities could use some development before he becomes an NHLer. This season (2018-2019), Fitzgerald has focused more on developing his playmaking ability and has shown surprisingly solid results, posting 19 assists in 36 games so far. If he continues to round out his game and show his ability to adapt, Fitzgerald has the potential to become a good bottom-6 forward in the NHL, but his advanced age (24 already with just a season and a half of experience in Providence) may limit his growth going forward.
