ROBIN LEHNER - Goalie - 28 - $5MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2020-2021
LAST UPDATED 12/30/18
After struggling through a few trying seasons in Buffalo, where he battled poor defensive play and documented mental health issues, Lehner arrived in New York to compete with Thomas Greiss for the #1 job. Since taking his place as the Isles' starting goaltender, Lehner has found great success. The Isles' new commitment to defense, the presence of goalie whisperer Mitch Korn, and starting to figure out his mental health troubles have all played a part in Lehner's resurgence. If he proves the numbers he started 2018-19 with are sustainable, he can be the Isles' goalie going into the future. (At least until prospect Ilya Sorokin comes over from the KHL...)
