ROBBY FABBRI - Right Winger - 23 - $.900MM Cap Hit - RFA in 2020-2021
LAST UPDATED 8/20/19
Robby Fabbri is a tantalizing talent. He had a very strong rookie season, scoring 18 goals and flashing his potential as a legitimate goal scorer. Then, his ACL decided to give up on him, and back-to-back injuries to that crucial ligament derailed his progress. He managed to get back into the lineup and he get a ring, but his future is still very much in the air. Fabbri has a great shot with a quick release. When he gets a clean look at the net, he's deadly, and that shot must be respected by the defenders he plays against. He's still a growing playmaker, and he isn't a strong enough skater nor is he sturdy enough possessing the puck to create enough time and space as a playmaker to produce heavily. He still relies on having good linemates to help him produce offensive chances, which is fine for someone who's best tool is his shot but something that Blues fans would like to see him improve going forward. They want to see some more reliability and self-sufficiency on offense for Fabbri. Defensively, Fabbri is a wash. He has energy and brings some snarl to his game, but he's not big enough or strong enough to play a physical role in the bottom-6, and he's not the most careful defensively, so he's not a true two-way winger, meaning overall his value crashes if he's not scoring. Still, if he's put injuries behind him, Fabbri is an intriguing young talent who can fit on a third scoring line but has definite top-6 upside.
