A rangy, big power forward, Koivula has always used his puck protection skills and abilities in the corners to make up for his sub-par skating. After producing decently in his two full seasons in SM-Liiga, Koivula has made the trip across the Atlantic and adjusted very well to the North American game. If he can continue to score in the AHL and improve his scoring, he can be a great 2nd-line power forward in the NHL.
