NICK SUZUKI - Center - 19 - Drafted 2017 #13 Overall
LAST UPDATED 12/15/18
Suzuki was the headlining return in former Montreal captain Max Pacioretty's trade to the Vegas Golden Knights. The thirteenth overall pick in 2017, Suzuki produced incredibly well in the OHL and has posted consistently strong possession numbers throughout his years there. He's a very high IQ player, and he uses his speed, instincts, and playmaking skills to create offense. Suzuki does need to bulk up as he gets older so that he's not as easily knocked off the puck at the NHL level. There's still the always-present worry that Suzuki's junior offense won't translate to his professional career, but his skating and obvious skill does not suggest that such a problem is a probability. Suzuki, if he continues to develop and refine his skills, can end up a solid top-6 center, and he definitely has that elusive 1C potential but, like all top-end center prospects, it's more likely that he doesn't quite reach that level and becomes a great 2C.
