NICK JENSEN - Defenseman - 28 - $2.5MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2023-2024
LAST UPDATED 9/20/19
Acquired from Detroit along with a 5th round pick in exchange for Madison Bowey and a 2nd, Jensen is a bit of a late bloomer, being 28 years of age with only 210 games of experience. Jensen is solid on the breakout and possesses excellent speed, and has consistently played close to 20 minutes a game throughout his career. However, Jensen definitely does have his flaws. For one, while he may be a good puck mover, he struggles in the offensive zone. For another, he isn’t a great defenseman in his own end either. Furthermore, Jensen has struggled when playing on special teams. Despite these drawbacks, Jensen’s current skillset is that of a high-end bottom pairing defenseman, but with his advanced age, it would be foolish to project anything else for the future.
