MAX PACIORETTY

MAX PACIORETTY - Left Winger - 30 - $7MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2023-2024

LAST UPDATED 6/20/19
The former captain of the Montreal Canadiens that fell out of favor after Montreal’s disastrous 2017-18 campaign, Pacioretty was uneven in his first season in Vegas. He battled injuries, but when he found the ice he brought what he’s been bringing to the NHL since his early days in Montreal. Pacioretty is a disciplined perimeter scorer, not an Anders Lee-type hard-nosed “garbage goal” factory. He’s at his best when he’s able to get a clear look at the net and utilize his elite shot to pick off the spots on the net the goalie isn’t covering. He’s fine defensively, but he lacks the awareness or effort to ever be an elite defensive winger. He’s declined over the past two seasons, but after Paul Stastny became healthy and Mark Stone was traded to Vegas, Pacioretty really found his groove on that line. His playstyle of taking longer range snipes over grinding for dirtier goals can be frustrating to some fans, as it was in Montreal, but as long as Pacioretty is scoring, which he usually is, I think fans will be happy with him. He’s a top-6 sniper with mid-30 goal upside.
