MATT BELESKEY - Left Winger - 30 - $3.8MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2020-21
LAST UPDATED 1/24/19
Beleskey, acquired from the Bruins as a salary cap dump, is the prototypical overpaid aging grinder. After being rewarded by Boston for having a 22-goal season in Anaheim, (no doubt aided by the unsustainable 15% shooting percentage) Beleskey provided the Bruins with two and a half underwhelming seasons until they dumped him into the Rangers' system. He's not a great skater, and his shot is serviceable but not overpowering. He's a physical player, so he's definitely viable on a 4th line, but at this point it would take a certain degree of desperation for an NHL team to dress Beleskey on a regular basis.
