MATHIEU PERREAULT - Left Winger - 31 - $4.12MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2021-2022
LAST UPDATED 9/1/19
If Perreault has been one thing in the NHL, he's been remarkably consistent. For a stretch of four straight seasons Perrault posted between 40 and 45 points, and has posted at least 30 points in every 40+ game season he's participated in. He's a true professional who plays the game with class and incredible grace. He's a truly generous player at heart, and will always set up more goals than he finishes himself. He's creative with the puck and has fantastic hands, allowing him to make some flashy plays and carry the puck into the zone. His speed and overall effectiveness as a skater has declined as he's aged, but his offensive instincts and puck skills remain unchanged, making him still a valuable passer, especially on the man advantage. Defensively, Perreault's intelligence and work ethic have driven his value. He's never been a defensive superstar, but he can kill penalties well and use his overall hockey IQ to be a strong defensive plus. He's a good, creative two-way playmaker and as long as he can mitigate the continued decline of his skating talent, he should remain a good middle-6 winger for the remainder of his contract.
