MARK McNIELL - Center - 25 - Drafted 2011 #18 Overall
LAST UPDATED 2/18/19
The 18th overall selection by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, McNeill’s NHL career has been disappointing thus far, as he’s only managed to appear in 2 NHL games. Heading into the 2011 draft, scouts believed that McNeill played a gritty defensive game with powerful skating ability, but several questioned whether his offense would develop enough to become worthy of a 1st round selection. The Blackhawks took a chance with McNeill, and unfortunately, he never panned out. Despite posting decent numbers in the AHL, McNeill has simply never shown enough “it” factor to earn himself time in the NHL. During the 2018 offseason, the Bruins signed McNeill to a one year, two-way deal, mainly to function as minor league depth. Since signing, McNeill has done well for the P-Bruins, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be seeing NHL ice while with Boston. An AHL middle-6 player.
