LOGAN COUTURE - Center - 30 - $8MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2026-2027
LAST UPDATED 8/20/19
After finding himself playing behind Joe Thornton as San Jose's 2C for years, Logan Couture finally stepped up to the challenge and replaced Thornton as San Jose's #1 center. Couture Scored 70 points this past season, and capped that off with a point-per-game run to the conference finals. Couture has turned himself into a truly valuable all-around center. Couture is comfortable enough as an offensive engine thanks to his puck skills, playmaking instincts, and puck possession abilities. He can capably drive play for a top-6 line and elevate shoot-first teammates with his passing. Couture's skating isn't at an elite level, and that results in him being more valuable on the power play where he doesn't need to have great skating to create chances with the puck. Defensively, Couture is also quite strong, with the ability to match up with high-end offensive players in a shutdown role. He can anchor a penalty kill, and will get down-ballot Selke votes yearly. He's become an incredibly valuable two-way center and should continue to be San Jose's 1C into the future.
