JORDAN MARTINOOK - Right Winger - 27 - $2MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2021-2022

I really like Jordan Martinook. He's a very consistent, well-rounded NHL player. He's not overly skilled, but he has the work ethic and adaptability someone with his level of talent needs to stick at the NHL level. He's completely willing and able to use his physical gifts to do anything and everything it takes to win. Martinook can lay out some hard hits, block shots, and fight in front of the net for some garbage goals. Isolated impact metrics bear out this point, showing Martinook to be a decently strong play driver on 5v5 offense, particularly in front of the net, as well as a similarly strong impact player on 5v5 defense, and also a decent penatly killer. He is truly a Swiss Army Knife, and while he isn't capable of filling in on some high-end skill role, Martinook can easily fit in on a third line and grind his way in front of the net towards 25 points and 15 goals. He's one of those players who isn't adequately served by the box score, but that's what scouting reports are for. Martinook is an example of a player both advanced analytics and scouts can agree on, and I think he's a prototypical high-end third line winger/character player.
