JOHNNY GAUDREAU - Left Winger - 26 - $6.75MM Cap Hit - 22-23
LAST UPDATED 6/29/19
Gaudreau's the reason a player like Cole Caufield could get drafted in the first round. Standing at less than five-foot-ten, Gaudreau fell all the way to the fourth round despite being a point-per-game producer in the USHL. Since coming to the NHL from Boston College, Gaudreau has continued that trend. He's one of the few wingers in the NHL capable of driving play from the wing as a center would, and he uses his elite speed, puck skills, and playmaking instincts to be a threat whenever the puck is on his stick. His lack of size and aggressive style means his defensive value is limited, but he's simply such a prolific winger that his lack of defensive value is far outweighed by his huge offensive value. He's an elite offensive winger and should be near the top of the NHL scoring leaderboards for years to come.
