JOHN GIBSON - Goalie - 26 - $6.40MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2027-2028
LAST UPDATED 6/8/19
Despite enduring all of the poor play in front of him that came from being part of the 2018-19 Anaheim Ducks, John Gibson has cemented himself as one of the NHL's elite young goaltenders. He has the requisite size and athleticism to be a franchise netminder, and has proven that with even just a decent team in front of him he can rise to the occasion and post great numbers. He has a career QS% of .605, and has never been below average in GSAA as a full-time starter. He posted a whopping 25.3 GSAA in 2017-18, and as his early play the following season suggested, was on pace to break even that number had the Anaheim Ducks not been an absolute tire fire. Going forward, Gibson looks like one of the NHL's major contract steals and he is perhaps the most valuable goaltender (factoring in age, performance, upside, and years of team control) in the NHL.
