JOAKIM NORDSTROM - Center - 26 - $1.00MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2020-2021
LAST UPDATED 1/30/19
A cup champion with Chicago in 2015, Nordstrom signed a two year, $2MM contract with Boston in the 2018 offseason. Since signing, he has proven to be a solid 4th line option for the B’s. While very limited offensively, Nordstrom’s smooth skating and great discipline suit him perfectly for a penalty killing role. Furthermore, Nordstrom is capable of playing all three forward positions, making him a versatile option at forward who can fill lineup holes caused by injuries. Furthermore, Nordstrom turns 27 during the 2018-2019 season, meaning age is still on his side, though it would be unrealistic to expect any significant positive development at this point. Overall, Nordstrom is a great 4th liner/penalty killer who can play up and down the lineup in a pinch, but probably shouldn’t do any more than that for a team to be successful.
