JAMIE BENN - Left Winger - 30 - $9.50MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2025-2026
LAST UPDATED 8/17/19
A former Art Ross trophy winner, Jamie Benn has been the heart and soul of the Dallas Stars for the better part of this decade. Benn is an elite offensive producer thanks to his incredible puck control abilities and his high-end strength. He can shield the puck very easily and uses his ability to endure contact to create time and space with the puck. This allows him to create scoring chances efficiently for himself and his teammates, and thanks to that high-end strength he’s a real asset in front of the net. Benn also has a high-end shot and is capable of scoring 30-40 goals in a good year. He’s part of Dallas’ elite one-two punch with Tyler Seguin, the engine that drives their offense, and his off-ice leadership brings surplus value to his play. His defense is not elite, but that’s obviously not the play style he’s asked to have. He’s an offensive force and his aggressiveness can sometimes cause him to have defensive lapses, but given his physicality and size he’s generally able to hold his own defensively. He’s an elite first line winger and potentially the best player Dallas has had since the days of Mike Modano.
