JACK ROSLOVIC - Center - 22 - $.894MM Cap Hit - RFA in 2020-2021
LAST UPDATED 9/1/19
Jack Roslovic has had a frustrating NHL career thus far. He's obviously a very capable two-way player. His defense has been lauded since he was part of the US National Team Development Program, and he's a fit in the Jets' bottom-6 even as a victim of their incredible forward depth. Roslovic shouldn't be stuck in a defensive role when his offense should be given chances to improve, and that's the source of frustration, as Roslovic's offensive production in the NHL is out of step with his career history. In the AHL he's a dominating offensive forward, easily capable of producing at a point-per-game rate. His blend of speed and size is rare, and his strong shot gives him real goal scoring upside. That being said, Roslovic just hasn't found consistent scoring success at the NHL level, and a lot of that comes down to how he's used. His defensive game is so good that coaches can live with him on their third or fourth line, and his offense is so good that he needs to be in the NHL, where he then gets stuck in the bottom-6. For his developments' sake, I hope he can find a way out of Winnipeg, but for Winnipeg's fans' sakes, I hope he can find some chemistry on a first or second line and really make an impact. He's fast and skilled, but he needs to put it all together. A middle-6 two-way forward now, but a player with legitimate top-6 scoring upside
