JACK EICHEL - Center - 22 - $10MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2026-2027
LAST UPDATED 6/25/19
Although he struggled with injuries and inconsistent teammates in his first few NHL seasons, Jack Eichel has finally broken out and become the point-per-game first line center he was projected to be. Eichel plays a complete game, and uses his elite skating, puck skills, and hockey IQ to be a deadly threat on both ends of the ice. His two-way game is still growing, as is his faceoff ability, but Eichel showed his ability last season to elevate his teammates, as he turned formerly inconsistent new linemate Jeff Skinner into a $9MM man. Eichel has elite hands, a lethal shot, and most other ideal traits elite centers are supposed to have. He's a prototypical #1 center, and while Buffalo's issues throughout his career cause some to question his leadership abilities, the real test of that will be once Buffalo has the talent AND coaching to actually start winning. Going forward, the sky is the limit for Eichel, and an 100 point season is not out of the question, but even if he sticks to where he is now he'll have a career as an elite, complete #1 center.
