DYLAN DeMELO - Defenseman - 26 - $.900MM Cap Hit - 2020-2021
LAST UPDATED 6/24/19
DeMelo is an interesting player. He's a bit of a mix between a physical blueliner and a mobile puck mover. DeMelo possesses decent puck skills, a good point shot, and a willingness and ability to play a physical style. He doesn't shy away from throwing his body around to win board battles, and can rack up PIM's trying to defend his team. He's not been trusted on a power play thus far in his NHL career but isolated impact metrics portray him as a definite asset on the penalty kill, although his instincts and positioning aren't good enough for him to be a hugely positive defensive presence 5v5. At this point, DeMelo is a decent bottom-pairing defenseman with reasonable upside if he can just refine his offensive tools and gain a bit more defensive awareness.
