DEVIN SHORE - Center - 25 - $2.30MM Cap Hit - RFA in 2020-2021
LAST UPDATED 7/18/19
Since his surprisingly strong rookie season in the NHL, Devin Shore has proven to be a decently reliable commodity wherever he draws into a lineup. The Ducks acquired Shore in exchange for iron man Andrew Cogliano, in their attempt to get younger, and while Shore struggled on an inferior team than he was on in Dallas, he still produced points at a level consistent with his two prior seasons. Shore combines good hockey sense and an aggressive defensive style with some underrated offensive flair, and isolated impact metrics show Shore as a strong positive power play talent. That being said, Shore lacks the skating ability or high-end puck skills to create enough time and space for him to become a top-6 5v5 playmaker, and as a result he's likely set as a middle-6 piece for his career. His career marks at the faceoff dot are subpar, and as a result Shore is more of a winger than a center at this point, but that being said, a ~10 goal, ~30 point middle-6 two-way forward still has value, and as long as he's reasonably priced, Shore should continue to have value for the rest of his prime.
