DEREK GRANT - Center - 29 - UFA in 2019-2020
LAST UPDATED 7/8/19
A career journeyman/AHL tweener, Derek Grant finally seemed to find his niche in Anaheim and Pittsburgh. His grit, work ethic, and faceoff abilities had finally come together to give Derek Grant a place on a regular NHL lineup. Playing on a terrible Ducks team certainly hurt his overall stock, but Grant's strengths still remain. He remains a great asset at the faceoff dot, and a capable defensive forward. He lacks the skill to ever pile up points, but he's shown the ability to chip in solid depth numbers. (mid-20's points, 10 goals) Isolated impact metrics are very high on his penalty-killing abilities, and given his numbers taking draws, it's easy to see why. At this point, Grant is a decent #4C capable of killing penalties very well.
