DANIEL BUKAC - Defenseman - 19 - Drafted 2017 #204 Overall
LAST UPDATED 2/6/19
A 7th round pick in 2017, Bukac is a 6’6, 220 lbs. defenseman who plays a hard-nosed, physical game. A defensive-defenseman, Bukac is extremely limited offensively, which is why he was available for the Bruins to select him with the 204th overall pick. Bukace is a below average skater, passer, and shooter, limiting his PK potential and making him useless on a powerplay. Given his miniscule point totals in the high-offense OHL and WHL, it’s likely that the Bruins allow Bukac’s NHL draft rights to expire in June of 2019. Bukac will be eligible to reenter the NHL draft in 2019, so it will be interesting to see whether his experience with an NHL organization boosts his stock or if his lack of offensive development and older age for a draft prospect causes him to go undrafted. Despite his large frame and defensive style, his NHL upside is limited. He won't be more than a #7, if anything.
