COLTON SISSONS

COLTON SISSONS - Center - 25 - RFA in 2019-2020

LAST UPDATED 8/20/19
Colton Sissons is a great symbol of how successful Nashville's draft-and-develop system of team building has been in recent years. Sissons was drafted in 2012, made his pro debut in 2013, scored very well in the AHL over the course of two seasons, and became a full-time NHL-er as a 23 year old. Since breaking into the NHL, Sissons has been the perfect 4C for the Predators. Sissons is a very versatile player, who isn't the strongest, fastest, or most skilled, but he has an relentless work ethic with an inflexible commitment to doing absolutely anything it takes to win. He's a strong, smart two-way center with tremendous defensive value. Sissons is always in the corners, along the boards or on top of the puck carrier, trying to get possession of the puck back for his team. He's a truly underrated defensive center and a major help to the Predators penalty kill. He's a coach's favorite and an elite faceoff taker. Offensively, Sissions isn't a skill player but he can be an asset on a power play thanks to his ability to restore possession of the puck and his abilities in the corners. He can capably score 15 goals and 30 points, and has upside for more if he's playing with great linemates. On a team that employs a top-4 center corps of Ryan Johansen, Matt Duchene, Kyle Turris, and Nick Bonino, it's telling that GM David Poile would lock up Sissons until after I graduate from college. He's a tremendously valuable shutdown bottom-6 center.
