CLAYTON KELLER

CLAYTON KELLER - Right Winger - 21 - $7.15MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2027-2028

LAST UPDATED 7/23/19
Keller was an elite rookie in his first full NHL season, scoring 23 goals and 65 points. Those numbers would have easily won him the Calder trophy, had these two kids named Mat Barzal and Brock Boeser not made their NHL debuts the same season. His sophomore season was more difficult, but Keller's talent still remains, and his dip in production can be more easily attributed to the lack of consistency he had with his linemates and the dip in his shooting percentage. Keller is still an elite playmaker, pairing plus speed with high hockey IQ and phenomenal puck skills to make him a true first line threat. His defense is a work in progress, and while he does not figure to ever become a true two-way winger Keller is smart enough to eventually become a netural-level player on 5v5 offense. The addition of Phil Kessel should be a major positive for Keller's development, and as long as Arizona can bounce back as a team, Keller should continue his ascension to elite first line winger status.
