CHRISTIAN DVORAK - Center - 23 - 4.45MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2025-2026
LAST UPDATED 7/23/19
Dvorak, after two impressive seasons as an all-around NHL centerman, looked poised for a breakout 2018-19 season, until injuries completely derailed his progress, and he only played in 20 games. His upside still remains, though, and as long as he can bounce back in the 2019-2020 season, Dvorak should restore his status as a middle-6 force with a bright future. A playmaker at heart, Dvorak has incredible offensive instincts and is a plus player with the puck on his stick as a setup man. He lacks the size to keep the puck on his stick when faced with overwhelming defensive resistance, but he's a strong enough skater to create time and space for himself to produce reliably. Isolated impact metrics are incredibly high on Dvorak's power play talent, and suggest that he should be utilized far more in that situation. Defensively, Dvorak is a relentless forechecker and provides incredible value as a defensive center. He still has the defensive lapses that are common for players his age, but those lapses are becoming fewer and fewer, and at this point Dvorak is a legitimate shutdown center. As long as his development can continue despite his injury issues, Dvorak looks to be Arizona's long term 2C/3C.
