CHRISTIAN DJOOS - Defenseman - 25 - $1.25MM Cap Hit - RFA in 2020-2021
LAST UPDATED 9/20/19
The Capitals’ 7th round pick in 2012, Djoos has broken in as a solid, puck-moving presence on the Caps’ blue line. Djoos has great skating and puck skills for his position, and is a smart player in his own end, but his size (6’0, 169 lbs.) means he’ll need to put on a few before he can be a reliable physical player. Furthermore, Djoos could stand to improve his passing and round out some of his offensive puck skills before he can really step into a consistent role in the Capitals’ defensive core. As of right now, Djoos’s skill level is at that of a solid bottom-pairing defenseman, though he has the potential to develop into a high-end #5 if all goes right.
