BROCK McGINN - Left Winger - 25 - $2.1MM Cap Hit - RFA in 2021-2022
LAST UPDATED 7/25/19
A playoff hero in Raleigh after scoring the game 7, double overtime game-winning-goal against the Washington Capitals, Brock McGinn has had two solid campaigns as his first two full NHL seasons. McGinn is a former OHL star, and someone who paid his dues at the AHL level before getting his NHL shot. He has a high-end work ethic, and makes the most out of every shift with his relentless motor and unending courage. He's not all that physically imposing, as he's only six feet tall, but he plays a gritty style of hockey, and fights for every puck he gets. He's willing to park himself in front of the net and grind for bad goals, as well as he's able to stick himself in a corner in his own end and fight to restore possession of the puck. McGinn is a strong penalty killer, and his value in 4v5 situations is probably what keeps him in an NHL lineup. 15 goals and 15 assists is likely his ceiling offensively, but as long as he can keep scoring at that level, keep grinding away, and keep killing penalties, he'll always have a home in Carolina's bottom-6.
