BROCK BOESER - Right Winger - 22 - $5.87MM Cap Hit - RFA in 2022-2023

While Boeser's rookie season was cut short by injury, he flashed the scoring potential Vancouver has been looking for since Daniel Sedin's prime years expired. Boeser's best tool, bar none, is his shot. He has a lightning-quick release with some deadly accuracy. He has a wide variety of shooting angles to work with and he has excellent hand-eye coordination, expertly turning quick passes into excellent shots. His shot should allow him to score 30-40 goals consistently in healthy seasons. Now, my extensive praise for his shot does not mean he's a one-dimensional shoot-only scorer. In fact, Boeser is actually a pretty decent playmaker to go with his shooting. He's not the most fantastic skater and won't burn by defenders to create chances, but he sees the ice very well and is able to leverage his puck possession abilities and strong shot in order to create time and space for himself with the puck. When defenders have to respect a shot like Boeser's, he gets some extra chances with the puck that other forwards simply do not get. I think that his goal totals will always be very close to, if not exceeding, his assist totals, but if he's scoring 40 goals then 30 assists should be the expectation. If Boeser can stay healthy and continue to build chemistry with the rest of the Canucks' young core, he can potentially become one of the game's most lethal goal scorers and a true franchise sniper.
