BRENDAN GUHLE - Defenseman - 22 - $.697MM Cap Hit - RFA in 2020-2021
LAST UPDATED 7/8/19
While he hasn't cemented himself as an NHL defenseman just yet, Guhle is primed to break camp as an everyday defenseman for the 2019-2020 Anaheim Ducks. An elite puck mover at the lower levels, Guhle should be able to bring that ability to the NHL level and should be an asset in transition. Given that strength, though, Guhle lacks high-end puck skills and does not figure to be an elite point-producing defenseman. He lacks the passing vision and overall puck skills to anchor a power play. His defense is still improving, and while he could stand to get better at his overall positioning, he's got the frame to make a defensive impact and is never one to avoid physical play, even if he isn't exactly a "physical player" himself. Going forward, Guhle has the upside to become a top-4, puck-moving defenseman, but for now he's best served as a sheltered #6 who specializes in zone entries.
