BOONE JENNER - Center/Left Winger - 26 - $3.75MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2022-2023
LAST UPDATED 8/1/19
Since returning from his 31-game 2014-15 campaign, Boone Jenner has been a remarkably consistent contributor for the Jackets. He's been entirely healthy for most of those seasons and has reliably played a steady ~16 minutes of ice time per night. Fans looking at his 30 goal season when he was only 22 years old and expecting him to repeat that will be disappointed. Jenner is not an elite offensive producer, and should not be drafted even in the middle rounds of your fantasy draft as a high-upside flier. Jenner's 30 goal season was inflated by an unsustainably high shooting percentage, and while Jenner does still have a good shot 20 goals or so is a more reasonable expectation for him. Jenner is not a playmaker and does not have high-end puck skills, meaning he needs to function as a complementary winger on a line with a play driving center in order for him to have success. Defensively, Jenner has good size and strength but lacks the defensive instincts and awareness to be a shutdown forward. He can grind in corners and fight for pucks but given his play style he'll never be anything more than a marginal defensive contributor, even if he can hold his own in his own end. Given his offensive abilities and physical touch Jenner is a good middle-6 winger for a contending team.
