BEN STREET - Center - 32 - $.750MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2020-2021
LAST UPDATED 7/18/19
Street is a perfect example of the prototypical AAAA player. He's a reliable elite AHL scorer, capable of leading a contending team in scoring. He possesses high-end offensive tools for the AHL level, and knows that level of competition well enough to have defensive value as well. His skills, though, are not good enough for him to make an impact at the next level, and advanced metrics show that Street is a MAJOR negative play driver on offense and a massive liability on defense. For a team that wants to secure a high spot in the draft lottery, playing Street in place of one of the veterans that were shipped off at the trade deadline is a fine choice, but beyond his impact there, Street should not touch NHL ice. He'll help a team's young guns score and gain confidence in the AHL, but his value is capped there. A true AAAA player through and through.
