ARTEMI PANARIN - Left Winger - 27 - $11.642MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2026-2027
LAST UPDATED 8/2/19
After signing a massive free agent contract with New York, Artemi Panarin figures to be the Rangers' most naturally gifted offensive performer since Marian Gaborik. Since entering the NHL and immediately winning the Calder trophy, Artemi Panarin has proven to be of a rare breed of NHL wingers: a winger capable of driving offensive play as a center traditionally would from the winger position. Panarin has elite puck skills, strong skating abilities, and above all, elite offensive instincts. He's an incredibly smart player and knows how to leverage any situation into an offensively advantageous one. He also has a lethal shot and is capable of thirty goals a season. His defense is not his strong suit, and while his aggressive style can cause turnovers and defensive lapses, he's not a complete Kovalchuk-esque liability and can hold his own in his own end with limited exposure. He badly wants to win and that allows him to put maximum effort into his defensive shifts even though they are few and far between. Panarin is an elite point producer and a de facto offensive 1C from the winger position. He'll be a star in New York and should be a massive help for the development of NY's top prospects such as Kaapo Kakko and Vitali Kravtsov.
