ANTHONY BITETTO

ANTHONY BITETTO - Defenseman - 29 - $.700MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2020-2021

LAST UPDATED 8/6/19
The definition of a physical seventh defenseman, Bitetto has not played in more than 40 games in any single season of his NHL career. This is a result of his lack of overall talent, as he's a below-average skater, puck mover, and defensive defender. He lacks high-end hockey IQ and cannot kill penalties. That all being said, though, Bitetto is a strong, physical player with a willingness to go to the dirty areas of the ice and fight for pucks. He won't be the most composed player in his own end, but you know you'll get consistent, scrappy effort from Bitetto. There's value, however limited it may be, in the energy he brings to a lineup. I would hesitate to call him an "NHL defenseman" because he should not be playing nightly, but saying that he's a decent, physical #7 would be a pretty accurate classification of his value as a player.
