ANDERS BJORK - Left Winger - 22 - $.925MM Cap Hit - RFA in 2020-2021
LAST UPDATED 1/17/19
Boston’s 5th round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Bjork remains somewhat of an enigma. After a decorated 4-year career at Notre Dame, rose to the status of one of the Bruin’s top prospects. After an excellent training camp with the B’s in 2017 in which he secured a top-6 role as a rookie, Bjork showed flashes of chemistry with Jake DeBrusk and David Krejci, but injuries ultimately ended his season after just 30 games and 12 points. While Bjork’s definitely still maintains some of that huge potential Bruins fans saw within him, there isn’t one single facet of his game that stands out, and his average size (6ft., 185lbs.) doesn’t really make him suited for any physical roles. Furthermore, the organization now seems higher on Ryan Donato to take a future top-6 role, leaving Bjork as a fringe player going up and down between Boston and AHL Providence. While he has shown the ability to at least hold his own in the NHL, but his upside has diminished, and he looks more like a potential middle-6 energizer than a true offensively-oriented top-6 winger.
