ALEXANDER RADULOV - Right Winger - 33 - $6.25MM Cap Hit - UFA in 2022-2023
LAST UPDATED 8/20/19
After flaming out with the Predators in 2008, and then seeing his return attempt in 2012 fail, Radulov finally became a legitimate NHL piece after a strong 2016-2017 campaign in Montreal. He showed his ability to be an offensive play driver and someone who can be the offensive engine for Dallas' best non-Seguin/Benn scoring line, or be the crucial third piece of a Benn-Seguin-Radulov "superline." Radulov pairs incredible puck skills with a quick stride and the ability to maintain puck possession through contact. He creates time and space with the puck thanks to his strength and creates chances for his opponents from the wing as a center would. He's one of the few wingers in the NHL who can legitimately drive offensive play, and that's still a bargain at $6.25MM a year. Defensively, Radulov is actually a little bit underrated. Sure, his aggressiveness can get the better of him and he's far from a shutdown winger, but he's also got size and strength and can win board battles with a decent degree of consistency. He shouldn't kill penalties but treating him like a Kovalchuk-esque defensive nightmare would be a mistake. Radulov can hold his own defensively. Given his ability to produce at a point-per-game rate and be able to drive a line's offensive play, Radulov is a legitimately elite first line winger.
